The University of Queensland has commissioned a refurbishment project at the UQ Sport Athletics Centre, which will see the athletics track resurfaced.
The project will ensure that UQ Sport can continue to provide athletes with a state-of-the-art, World Athletics certified facility.
Works will begin on Wednesday, 19 October 2022.
The eight-lane synthetic track and grass infield, plus the field event runways, sandpits, cages and circles will all be required to close for the duration of the project.
Some or all of the changeroom/toilet facilities in the Athletics Centre may also be required to close during the project.
While the project timeline is currently being finalised, at this stage, all track bookings and casual track usage will be unavailable until the project’s completion in mid-2023. Please be advised that due to The Bureau of Meteorology’s confirmation that the La Niña weather pattern will cause above average rainfall for eastern Australia over Spring and Summer, the project may experience unavoidable delays.
